The Poster Shop is now open!

NOTE!!!!! Shipping is still REALLY SLOW. Once the order is sent, I have no control over the time it takes. If you choose the less expensive option, the order can’t be tracked. The Faster Tracked option is slow as well but at least you know it is coming and it should be coming more quickly.

Since the POSTER SHOP opened in March 2020, every order was been received (though sometimes not as quickly as the customer wanted). To keep the cost reasonable, shipping by post was chosen. That means we are at the mercy of the Post Office!

NEW POSTERS! There is enough money in the budget to print 3 more. Originally, the 4th, 5th and 6th favourite choices made by the October 2020 survey takers were going to be printed next. But many people expressed interest in other images that were not offered as choices in the survey. So I think I am going to do another survey. It is so helpful to get your input. The next poster survey will be up and running soon!!!!!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

The POSTER SHOP has closed for the season. I will be paying attention to the website robgonsalves.live and the Rob Gonsalves (Official site) Facebook page but not responding to any new requests or comments.

The website is almost one year old. It has been a beautiful, positive success. Your support and comments have made putting together the site worthwhile. It never ceases to amaze me how you feel so connected to Rob’s work. I wish he had known that in his lifetime. Many of you shared how his work has given you hope and peace during this dark year. Thank you.

New Posters A month from now, another poster survey take place to determine the new images to be published. The first survey was so helpful and originally, I was going to use the 4th, 5th and 6th choices for the next posters. Your comments suggest that there might be more popular choices than was offered in the first survey.

Limited Edition Prints It is time to start publishing them!!!!! The details should be worked out by the end of January.

The Post Office tells me that there is still time to send posters and receive them by December 24th. (Disclaimer! Shipping has been slow!) During the ordering process, you may specify that you are sending a gift directly to the recipient. The amount you paid will not be included on the invoice and if I am not overwhelmed with orders, I’ll add some holiday decoration!

Hi there!

There has been some confusion about the definition of a print and an original painting. Here is some clarifications for you!

Definitions

Print (n) 5. A reproduction made by printing… It is a general term. Both posters and limited edition prints are prints. Prints can be done on any surface.

Original painting Rob Gonsalves made paintings on canvas that are being used as a template for the reproductions. Limited edition prints are not paintings.

Posters - Posters are a lovely, inclusive and inexpensive way to enjoy Rob’s work. Posters are printed on recycled paper (and are not archival). The outlay to print posters is very high. Most of the cost goes to setting up the large industrial printers. So printing ten is almost as expensive as printing 500. The posters have to be stored somewhere. The more I can print at once keeps the price down for the buyer. The poster sales fuel more images being printed as posters. I will print more images when they can be paid for. I would love your input was to what images should be printed next!

Archival paper and canvas “Archival” means that the paper or canvas is high quality, is PH balanced and will last a lot longer than the paper used for posters.

Limited Edition Prints

Limited edition prints are for art collectors/investors. They reproduce the experience of the original painting. These are giclees made on a specific printer which can make prints on demand and are done on archival paper or canvas. The limited edition prints are numbered - meaning only a determined number of that image will be made. Each print in the edition must be identical (in medium used, size, colour, marking…..). Along with the expensiveness of the archival paper or canvas, the printing process and the exclusivity, each print is expensive to make.

Rob Gonsalves Legacy Limited Edition Prints

The legacy limited edition prints will be made using Rob Gonsalves’s digital files and will be as close to the original paintings as possible. These giclees will be on archival canvas, have a U.V protection finish, will be posthumously signed and will come with a certificate of authenticity. Most of Rob’s images will be available in this form. U.S. galleries who has sold Rob’s giclees in the past want me to charge $2300 U.S. for the large size and $900 U.S. for medium size. There is much impatience and excitement about when these limited edition prints will be available. The pandemic and subsequent lockdown has slowed publication. If you are on the mailing list, you will be the first to receive notification!

Note: Production of the first edition prints published by Huckleberry Fine Art halted in June 2017 as a result of Rob’s death. The definition of an edition is that each print must be identical. Rob physically signed the first editions himself. and that cannot be replicated. These prints have increased in value significantly and the editions will never be completed.

Buyer Beware Illegal prints can be found online. The information offered on these sites are misleading and confusing. One site claims they are selling original Rob Gonsalves paintings when they are obviously selling bad quality prints…. Rob would have hated to see these bad reproductions. The reason I am offering the posters is to give everyone a chance to own a good quality image of Rob’s work.
